I painted this large 60″x60″ abstract painting back in 2014 when I was still working in my studio in Boston.
Before I started this particular work I had been making abstract paintings with big smears of paint. I wanted to continue creating abstract art but try a new style and experiment with oil thinners to produce layers upon layers of colorful squares in varying sizes.
I wanted the squares in this painting to float off the canvas. To give the viewer a sense of order in total randomness. I love the energy this painting gives.
Abstract Squares was placed in a residential condominium high rise lobby in Downtown Boston.
